Pawpaw | Cnr Potts St And 898 Stanley Street, WOOLLOONGABBA QLD 4102
We
woke up to a grey raining Monday, feeling hungry. We weren't sure if
anywhere in the city would be open given that it was a public
holiday. When we walked to almost the end of Eagle Street and
realised that we were out of luck, Pawpaw came to mind.
We
immediately hailed a cab and not too long after, the car pulled up at
Pawpaw in Woolloongabba.
Expectedly,
the cafe was pumping. We were seated at a cosy table by the wall,
which was covered by shimmering gold and green bamboo themed
wallpaper.
Our
waitress was kind enough to advise us that the prices on the menu had
been adjusted to include a 15% public holiday surcharge but my eyes
were already checking out food options. On reflection, I found that
even with the inclusion of the surcharge, the prices were still
reasonable and still cheaper than a few popular breakfast joints in
Brisbane.
Our
breakfast consisted of sipping on a latte ($4) and Earl Grey ($3.5)
before moving on to the corn fritters with chipotle sour cream,
avocado and sweet tomato relish (normally $13.90) and the
Canadian breakfast – French toasted Brioche served with crispy
bacon, caramelised banana & maple syrup (normally
$16.90) – both of
which were beautifully presented and tasted even better than they
looked. The corn fritters didn't have too many elements and the
simplicity of the dish really brought out the tasty ingredients.
To
top it off, the friendly service made our breakfast an uplifting
experience on rainy day.
Total
Bunnie Dollars Spent: $44.60 (inclusive of public holiday surcharge)
