Darling & Co | 157 Given Terrace, Paddington QLD 4064

Good morning Darrrrrling!’

I was so excited when I got up on Saturday morning and exclaimed to the other travel bunnie that we had breakfast booked at Darling & Co so I thought it was appropriate to greet the hubby that way.

In case you didn’t know, Darling & Co is almost iconic thanks to its prominent location that takes up the corner of Given Terrace and Dowse Street in the sought after suburb of Paddington.

High ceilings, sleek and refreshing decor that incorporate elements of concrete, natural wood and live greenery, Darling & Co felt nothing but welcoming and extremely comfortable. The restaurant has just recently introduced a breakfast menu and we were eager to try it out. But first, cawfee. Drum roll please -let me introduce you to the most awesome and the cutest cup of coffee I’ve ever had - Darling & Co’s waffle cone piccolo. It’s so Insta ready, you can be sure to use #nofilter. The crispy waffle cone was lined with layers of chocolate and when I finished the coffee, a melting gooey layer of chocolate was exposed so I ate my waffle cone… no judgement, please. We also had two cold pressed juices - mine was made with spinach, broccoli, celery, apple, lime and mint, whereas the other travel bunnie ordered a mix of carrot, orange, ginger and turmeric. Both were delicious.

Breakfast didn’t take long to come out. The other travel bunnie went for the Shakshuka made with baked eggs, chorizo, spiced tomato, harissa and labneh. Served with thick slices of sourdough, the dish came out steaming hot in a round clay pot and it was a perfect winter warmer for its rich and tasty flavours. I went for the sweet corn fritters. The plating was gorgeous. Those crispy sweet corn fritters were carefully placed on a bed of smashed avocado, spread across the place then topped with heirloom tomato, chilli and coriander. It was such a delicious combination and I loved the refreshing taste of the heirloom tomato and basil. Both dishes are new additions to Darling & Co’s breakfast menu which includes many yummy options to tickle your tummy’s fancy, like the buttermilk waffle with whipped mascarpone, strawberries, coconut and maple which I will definitely order next time when I visit. I’m pretty territorial when it comes to food, so I’m not a big sharer. No doubt I was happy to find out that Darling & Co has a kids breakfast menu and Minibun George thoroughly devoured his ham & cheese jaffle.

Delicious food paired with impeccable service (not to mention that super cute waffle cone piccolo), breakfast at Darling & Co was such a wonderful start to our weekend. Do you have food envy yet?

Disclaimer: with thanks to Darling & Co for welcoming DolceBunnie to the property as an invited guest, please note that my opinion is as always, my own.
