Double Shot Espresso | 125 Oxlade Drive, NEW FARM QLD 4005

As a perfect hubby would do, the other travel bunnie often looks out for places for us to try, be it for breakfast, dinner or perhaps just a nice cup of coffee. Last weekend before we headed down to the coast, he mentioned that we should make a detour and stop in at Double Shot Espresso for breakfast. I had never heard of the place before and therefore knew nothing about it, but I took his word for it and was more than happy to pay it a visit.

Situated on a quiet suburban street in New Farm, Double Shot Espresso was only a short drive away from the city. Despite the fact that we easily found a parking spot right in front of the cafe, getting a table was not as easy as the cafe was at full capacity when we arrived.

We placed our order as soon as we got a table. The other travel bunnie had a cold for the past few days and ordered a lemongrass & ginger tea ($3), which was quite a refreshing and soothing change. I, on the other hand, was suffering from lack of sleep from the night before and ordered a latte ($3) to a perk-me-up. Our food took a while to come out, a while being thirty-five minutes. We expected that the wait would be long as it was clearly stated on their menu, but the food was definitely worth the wait. Both the “Double Shot” flaky pastry tart with softly scrambled eggs w' bacon & tomato ($14.50) as well as the Shakshuka ($16.50) exceeded our expectations. The other travel bunnie commented that his breakfast was faultless and as for the perfectly spiced shakshuka, I dare say that it was the best that I've had.

So the coffee was great, the food was impeccable and the service was friendly. I just can't wait to go back for more!

Total Bunnie Dollars Spent: $37.00
