The Langham | Sydney, AUSTRALIA

As the driver pulled up in front of The Langham, Sydney, I knew that I had made the right decision in choosing this hotel as our home away from home for the few days of our visit to Sydney. We had been to Sydney a few times now and each time, we have stayed at a different place, so I thought it was about time that we try out The Langham.

Located on Kent Street, The Langham closed its doors back in 2014 to undertake a $30 million grand transformation which re-delivered this landmark hotel as Sydney’s most exclusive harbourside address. If I had to describe this property in one word, it would be “elegant”. Think marble flooring, pink orchids, velvety chairs and plush carpets.

Upon our arrival, we were greeted then whisked away to the reception for check-in and the process was efficient and welcoming. Our room was located on the first floor, and with a simple tap of the room card, we opened the door to a beautifully appointed room bathed in the sunlight pouring through the Parisian-style shutters, which opened onto the Western Harbour. The colour scheme of the room is soft and relaxing. And the bed, the ultra king sized bed was such a pleasure to sleep in… prepare yourself to get lost each night. Down the corridor, was the equally spacious, luxurious marble bathroom. Minibun George was provided with a thoughtful bath basket filled with nappies, baby shower gel, baby lotion, baby power and a bath toy. The hotel was a great place for us to unwind after a day of eating and sightseeing. The spacious room meant that I could sip on a cup of tea by the marble coffee table, or read the newspapers by the walnut dining table. Each night we would head out to the swimming pool (which has been featured in various magazines many times as one of the world’s best hotel pools) for a quick dip; the star dappled ceiling alone was mesmerising to look at.

I found the service at The Langham not only professional, but also personable. One of the concierges, Ronawldo was fantastic. He would ask us about our day as well as our dining experiences every time when we returned to the hotel and really helped put a friendly face to the hotel image.

The only downside, if you can even call it a downside, would be the location of the hotel. It’s not exactly in the central of part of the Sydney CBD, however you can easily walk there in 15 minutes, give or take. I personally preferred the location because it’s quiet and you are away from the hustle and bustle of the city, whilst being in the city.

I absolutely loved our stay at The Langham, Sydney. It was definitely a five star experience that I would’t mind doing again.
