Morning After | 57 Vulture Street, WEST END QLD 4101

Yesterday was the last day before the other travel bunnie had to go back to work, so we decided to make the most out of it and head out for breakfast.

Located in the hip neighbourhood of West End, Morning After has been on our list since it first opened, but somehow we never had the time to try it, well, until yesterday. We woke up bright and early, and arrived at this fairly new establishment just before 7.30 and it was already buzzing. I love the sleek, open design of Morning After, it feels vibrant yet relaxed. Matte gold tones can be seen throughout this beautiful airy space.

Equally impressive is the menu, which boasts wonderful choices such as fresh sand crab omelette, buttermilk & ricotta hotcakes, and warm vanilla rice pudding with poached pear, prunes, cardamom & pistachio, but we had something else in mind. We were wooed by the sound of MaMuffin ($11.50) and Carbonara ($19), and thank goodness we ordered those two dishes because they were delicious.

The Carbonara is usually served with 63 degree hens eggs, but unfortunately on the day of our visit we were told that a soft boiled egg would be used as a substitute. The dish was delightful regardless; the pappardelle had a silky yet firm texture, and when mixed with mushrooms, guanciale and cheese, it tasted divine. The concept of MaMuffin is just like a McMuffin with a hash brown from Maccas, but only better, way better. The hash brown was extremely crispy, I could actually hear the crunch with every bite. Minibun George loved it so much, he would’ve finished all of it if I didn’t cheekily snatched up the last bite.

There are not that many breakfast places that I would desperately want to go back for more, but there are so many options on the menu from Morning After that I want to try, like the sweet corn pakora, fried egg, haloumi, avocado, smoked corn & watercress ($16) and cheeseburger, smoked bacon, roast onion and jalapeno jam, pickles, ketchup, mustard & chips ($16.50), or even the lamb shoulder, onion, parsley, chips, mustard mayo ($12) from their yiro Saturday.

I like this kind of Morning After.

Total Bunnie Dollars Spent: $43.50
