King Arthur Cafe | 164c Arthur Street, FORTITUDE VALLEY QLD 4006

Our visit to King Arthur Cafe was one of those perfect accidental discoveries. Located just off James Street, a space with minimalist design where the only decorations are the freshly baked pastries on the counter, King Arthur Cafe is the brainchild of the team behind the much loved establishment - Merriweather.

Various drink options are available, with everything from coffee to smoothies and old fashion soda’s. We had a banana, raw cacao, local honey on Maleny milk ($8.5) smoothie and a seasonal juice ($6.5) to start our day. The menu offers significantly different options from Merriweather, such as dishes like goat koftas - housemade sourdough flat bread, eggplant, pickled radish, eggs & dukkah ($20.50) and smoked hock brown rice congee with shiitake, egg, local xo, ginger & fried shallots ($20), which are what we decided on during our recent visit. The food is definitely on a pricier side but both dishes were flavoursome with the steamy congee being a knockout option. A soft boiled egg sat atop layers of tender meat, juicy shiitake mushrooms, and brown rice cooked just to the right texture. Minibun George and I cleared the bowl. Enough said.

Total Bunnie Dollars Spent: $55.50.
