Restaurant Two, 2 Edward Street, BRISBANE CBD QLD 4000

One of the rather tough decisions for me to make everyday includes my lunch destination. It sounds pathetic, but after working in the city for almost three years, it seems like lunch alternates among AJ’s, Kadoya and the Satay Club, or occasionally (when I’m really bad) I have wicked wings at KFC… lots and lots of wicked wings. Yesterday, to celebrate both of the bunnies passing their final exam, the other travel bunnie took me to Restaurant Two for a little lunch.

This one-hatted restaurant provides a great view of the City’s Botanical Gardens on the opposite of the street as it is located on the quiet corner of Alice and Edward Streets. The entrance to the restaurant is exactly how I would decorate my home, simple yet sophisticated, light by a big chandelier reflecting on a warm timber floor, with shelfs of books stacked against the pure white wall and with vintage style chairs creating a perfect final touch to the design.

We were led to a table by the window and the area was cornered with three black walls each with a paining hanging on it. The restaurant was quiet with only two other tables of business attired guests and mellow music playing in the background.

Service was professional and very prompt. We were presented with our lunch - 14Hr Braised Beef Cheeks, Chard, Melting Onions, Soft Polenta, Gremolata and Grilled Fillet of White Fish, Spiced Asian Coleslaw, Nam Jim Dressing. The tantalising beef cheeks were soft and juicy and the crunchy greens on the side gave a good balance of the texture. The other travel bunnie also commented on the well made Nam Jim dressing.

For me, having a meal without dessert is not a perfect ending and I was really fond of their Deconstructed White Chocolate Cheesecake with Bundaberg Figs and Raspberry Puree. The concept is contemporary, delicious and guilt-free (hey, it has fresh figs!). The Mandarin Souffle with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream in contrast was less attractive in terms of the look and taste, but nevertheless fabulous.

I quite enjoyed my lunch time rendezvous and would recommend their Lunch on Q menu to anyone who’s looking for a change.

Total Bunnie Dollars Spent: $70.00
