The Lab Restaurant and Bar | 130 William Street, BRISBANE CBD QLD 4007
Can you believe that December is here already? I personally love the entire month of December, it’s so festive and filled with excitement leading up to Christmas. It’s such a wonderful time to be grateful, pamper yourself with food, and give cuddles and kisses to family and friends. So I thought, what better way to welcome the month than having lovely dinner out with the family?
Last Friday night, we arrived at the multi-award-winning The Lab Restaurant and Bar for a nice dinner. Housed in Treasury’s Heritage Hotel, the restaurant oozes elegance and old-school glamour. Sitting down at a table next to a large arched window, we quickly browsed through the menu and placed our order. Soon after, we were presented with our smoked duck amuse bouche. Mmmm…
Tummies rumbling, we received our entrees - scallops, cauliflower, corn, corn crisp, micro basil, desert lime oil ($26) and spanner crab, avocado and pea gazpacho, lemon myrtle crisp, radish, mint, desert lime emulsion ($28). Gracefully presented, both dishes were very delicate and quite light on the palate, leaving the proteins to take the centre of the show.
I sipped on a Sunlight Breeze (made with pineapple and orange juice, lime juice, passionfruit syrup and mint) while waiting for the main course to arrive. I had zero patience and kept looking over my shoulder hoping that our main was arriving, I was so eager to see it. Finally, rolled out on a cart, was our Grainge chateaubriand ($120). Served with three sides, it was definitely an eye-catching dish that would release your inner carnivore. Blushing in the middle, my mouth watered as I watched the meat being carved and served in front of us.
Me being me, I had to go for dessert despite the fact that I was just a little full from the chateaubriand. If you only order one dessert from the menu, make it the milk chocolate mousse ($16). Served with hazelnut praline, espresso crumb, Frangelico lime gel and blood orange sorbet, like eating a giant, soft Ferrero Rocher, the dessert tasted absolutely divine.
Treasury Brisbane has curated an array of Christmas events to put a magical touch to the month of December, including a Christmas Cocktail SoirĂ©e, Christmas themed Grand Buffet Lunch and of course, a Christmas Dinner where you can enjoy a night of fine dining at The Lab with a Christmas sparkle… bon appetit!
Disclaimer: with thanks to Treasury Brisbane for welcoming DolceBunnie & family to the property as an invited guests, please note that my opinion is as always, my own.
