The Palace Supper Club | 12 Duncan Street, FORTITUDE VALLEY QLD 4006
“Can you recommend a cocktail that looks really nice?” I paused as soon as I said those words. I mean if the opulent, old-world glamour decor of The Palace Supper Club was anything to go by, every single cocktail on the menu would be pretty unique and that certainly was the case.
The Palace Supper Club has been opened for only a short time, but it has created quite a buzz around town, and it no doubt adds a layer of sophistication to Chinatown. Stepping through a set of heavy brass doors, not one single trace of the former occupant, a Chinese seafood restaurant can be spotted. Instead, get ready to be in awe of the imported sparkling chandelier as you walk up the stairs before being welcomed a smartly dressed staff.
The other travel bunnie and I were there for a date night, sitting at one of the marble bar tables, there I was, asking the waitstaff for a recommendation on a cocktail based on its appearance. The other travel bunnie had no hesitation and ordered a Penicillin ($18), which I bet was a pretty good cure for a sore throat thanks to the strong dose of blended scotch whisky, honey and ginger. I loved the sound of the Palace Colada ($19) which immediately had my attention. Served in a pineapple glass jar, the drink tasted sweet and refreshing. The lounge menu here isn’t your average bar menu. You can find anything from caviar at $190 per serve and kingfish sashimi ($16), to wagyu beef puffs ($15). Oh, of course, don’t forget about the fancy rock lobster rolls ($18) filled with baby cos, horseradish aioli, cucumber and avocado, with a side of crispy fries… because hey, why not?
The Palace Supper Club is indeed a little oasis that you don’t want to miss.
Disclaimer: with thanks to The Palace Supper Club for welcoming the bunnies to the property as invited guests, please note that my opinion is as always, my own.
