Santa Monica | 192 Ann Street, BRISBANE CBD QLD 4000

Well, hello, Santa Monica! Aren’t you a welcome new face to the area.

Located on the ground floor of an office building on the corner of Ann Street and Edward Street, just like its name suggests, Santa Monica serves up casual but delicious American-style fare. This place boasts a relaxed vibe with its California-inspired look - think banana leaf print wallpaper (similar to the one you’ll find at the Fountain Coffee Room inside of The Beverly Hills Hotel), cruiser bike (yes, there really is a cruiser bike parked inside of the eatery) and clean white tiles.

The menu is casual and fun, very American, yet boasting a playful Italian touch. You’ll find burgers, pizzas, hearty pasta dishes such as the beef cheek pappardelle ($19) - with slow cooked Aceto Balsamico beef cheeks, sundried tomatoes, red onions, mushrooms, pine nuts & Parmesan cheese which we had recently. The burger choices are solid here, when in doubt, go for the Santa Monica burger which comes with two flame-grilled Black Angus beef patties, American cheddar cheese, special sauce, dill pickle, oak lettuce, red onion, tomato & smokey BBQ sauce ($18). I love the ricotta cannoli as well; for $12, you get three cannoli filled with homemade sweet ricotta cream, topped with chocolate flakes & candied orange zest, great for sharing or just indulging in them all by yourself…

Service is quick and always with a smile. Note that this place does get extremely busy at lunch during weekdays, so reservations are recommended. ♥
