The Tuckshop | 49 Gerler Road, HENDRA QLD 4011
On Wednesday morning after I dropped off Minibun George at daycare, I met up with fellow food blogger, Melissa Loh, whose baby boy also happens to be at the same daycare as George. We were due for a much needed catch up. After five minutes of driving, we arrived at The Tuckshop, a place Melissa recommended and that I had never been to.
Don’t let the name fool you, the menu here isn’t filled with sausage pies, fries with chicken salt, and ham & pineapple pizza. Think a tuckshop for sophisticated grown-ups. Set in a bright space occupying the corner of Gerber Road and Dorchester Street, the decor is simple yet pleasant, with seating that extends out to a courtyard, where you can bath in the warm morning sun.
The breakfast menu should suit everyone’s taste buds; something light, like the fruit salad, house-made yoghurt & sandy’s honey ($12), which is what I ordered. And - something more substantial, like the masala-spiced omelette, tandoori paneer, buttered spinach & tomato kasundi ($17), which was Melissa’s choice. I was a little underwhelmed with the amount of yoghurt I received, but that was made up for with the variety of fruits in my bowl which included orange, pineapple, apple, pear, raspberries, strawberry, blueberries and even dragon fruit!
Two hours, three lattes ($3.80 each) and two very satisfied tummies later, we both thought it was time to get back to reality and catch up with our “duties” for the day.
Until next time Melissa. x
Total Bunnie Dollars Spent: $15.80
