Genkotsu Ramen is an unassuming yet awesome Japanese noodle eatery tucked away at the back of a blink-and-you-will-miss-it arcade in the inner city suburb of Toowong.
For all you ramen lovers out there, this place is not to be missed. The menu is small, yes, but don’t knock it until you try the dishes. On a recent visit, I ordered the tonkotsu ramen with black garlic ($11) and I finished that bowl of noodles in no time because it was that good. The broth was so flavoursome with the aroma of garlic (which was not pungent), its texture was rich and creamy, and the pork was cooked to meltingly-tender perfection.
I think Genkotsu Ramen is gonna be a winter favourite of mine.
