DolceBunnie x Free Wines App | Cove Bar + Dining
So we found ourselves sitting on the banks of the Brisbane River watching the sunset reflect in the glass windows of the high-rises beyond. It was a Thursday evening and I was in no mood to cook as we were ready to take a cruise with Pacific Aria the next day. Dinner at Cove Bar + Dining seemed liked the perfect dinner option. It had been a while since our last visit and I was happy to see that the menu has been updated.
The waitress came over to take our orders. I took my phone out of my bag, placed my thumb on the home button and tapped opened the Free Wines app and showed it to our waitress. Not long after, she came over with a bottle of chilled sauvignon blanc by the Hahndorf Hill Winery and best of all – IT WAS FREE! What is this magical app you ask? Launched in November, the Free Wines app offers members a free bottle of award winning wine when they dine at participating restaurants and spend $100 or more. These include hatted restaurants, local restaurants, pubs, clubs and cafes – something for everyone. Before you roll you eyes and think that the app would cost a fortune to download, you should know that the app is FREE!
Now I’m no wine expert so when I look at a wine list it is often a bit daunting. One of the things I love about this app is that not only are all the wines available award winning, but details of the tasting notes are also provided for your convenience. The free wine is provided by Zenith Wine Agencies, a specialist on-premise wine importer and wholesaler, rated in the Top 20 national and east coast on-premise distributors in Australia. I think the dollar mark for the free wine is extremely reasonable as a breakfast for two can easily cost $50 these days. In my opinion, the Free Wines app should be your dining companion from now on!
We started our dinner by sharing the deliciously tender Asian spiced beef ribs ($22.50) as an entrée, followed by a twice cooked crispy pork belly ($34) and Massaman lamb shank ($33) as our main meals. The pork belly was a treat! The crackling was so crispy it was like eating a chip, the meat which was drizzled with house made jus was juicy, soft and tasted amazing with the accompanying apple and parsnip puree. The lamb shanks, cooked until the meat was literally falling off the bone, tasted wonderful with the Thai Massaman curry sauce. We finished our dinner by sharing a double choc cake in a mug ($15) topped with topped with brandy custard sauce, cream and berries. It was just one of those perfect nights as we sipped on some wine, ate, then sipped on more wine etc.
Total Bunnie Dollars Spent: $104.50
