Kiss the Berry | Shop 1, 99 Creek Street, BRISBANE CBD QLD 4000

A few days ago I took minibun George downstairs for a nice stroll around the CBD when we discovered Kiss the Berry on Creek Street.

Albeit narrow and small, the interior of the shop has a hip and fresh feeling to it and all the staff working inside the shop were energetic and friendly. Kiss the Berry is Brisbane's first shop that specialises in açaí bowls and smoothies. And in case if you don't know what açaí berries are (like me until a few weeks ago), they are small, dark purple coloured fruit originating from the Amazon rainforest and are one of the trendiest super foods around at the moment.

I ordered a large KTB Original Bowl ($11 for a large) which is a frozen blend of organic açaí berries, strawberries, banana and a dash of apple juice. Topped with crunchy granola, locally sourced honey, strawberries, banana and a sprinkle of organic chia seeds. Not only did the bowl look very pretty and enticing with its vibrant colours, it tasted nice too. I enjoyed the fact that it wasn't overly sweet like a dessert and the mixture of granola added a really nice crunch to the bowl, which I liked. I think it's a perfect breakfast (or healthy dessert) option especially on a hot summer day. I also had a cacao and date smoothie ($9) which is a mixture of organic açaí berries, banana, raw cacao powder, medjool dates, cold pressed coconut oil and coconut water. The smoothie was sweeter in comparison to the açaí bowl. The raw cacao powder gave the smoothie a yummy chocolatey taste and the dates provided a nice sweet flavour. I really enjoyed the smoothie and I think it's one of the best (and healthiest) that I've had in a long time.

Just as I was contemplating on how to lose my baby weight, I found Kiss the Berry. Something tells me that I'll be visiting this little gem quite regularly from now on.
