Bunnie's Birthday Post!
Another
year, another birthday.
I
wanted to have a very low-key birthday this year as every single day
of my life being a 26th year old was immersed in love and
happiness. I simply could not ask for more as I felt so content with
everything that I already have.
We
attended a wonderful and intimate wedding the night before and didn't
get home till late, so the other travel bunnie and I stayed up until
midnight when he kissed me and wished me a happy birthday.
I
was woken up by Baby George's kicks in my tummy in the morning, as if
he too was wishing me a happy birthday. It was only 6am, the other
travel bunnie wrapped his arm around me with his eyes closed and we
cuddled in bed just like that for another two hours before he finally
convinced me to get up and unwrap my birthday presents. My first gift
was a DVD box set of Game of Thrones from my best friend and having
never watched the series before but I can now officially declare that
I'm a GoT addict. A set of elegant Wedgewood tea cups from my
parents, which I've wanted for a long, long time but could never
justify paying so much for. Of course, being the spoilt wifey that I
am, Alain Ducasse's newly release book, J'aime London, a pair of
classic Chanel earrings and a BabyLove bracelet by Cartier from the
other travel bunnie to match our wedding bands.
We
paid a quick visit to my in-laws so that I can get my birthday kisses
and cuddles from them (yep, guilty of stealing the other travel
bunnie's parents as my own), before we met up with my mum and had
lunch with her at Pony.
I
had visited Pony once before for dessert and I wasn't overly
impressed. I didn't realise how difficult it was to find a suitable
restaurant for lunch on a Sunday as a number of my preferred options
don't open on Sundays.
Lunch
at Pony turned out to be brilliant. The iron bark pit of the day
($26) which happened to be our
favourite meat, lamb on that day was served with roast kipflers,
green beans, jus. The meat was tender with a hint of smokiness and it
was cooked to perfection. Mum had the wood fired salmon w'
asparagus, mozzarella, endive, pine nuts and tomato foundue ($36)
while I thoroughly enjoyed my Rangers Valley wagyu brisket
MB7+ ($37) served with char sui,
grilled pineapple, tamarind, chilli,
and coriander. The well-cooked
wagyu brisket was full of flavours and it simply melted in my mouth
and it created a perfect balance with the crunch of a fresh side
green salad ($9).
The
day went fast, but it didn't finish until I got to cut my birthday
cake, watch a few episodes of GoT, gotten plenty of birthday cuddles
from the ones that I love, read the birthday card from my in-laws
twice because I feel so lucky to have them as my in-laws and finally,
snuggled up with the other travel bunnie in bed...
