Harvest Cafe | Newrybar, AUSTRALIA
We
had breakfast at Harvest on Saturday morning when we spent the
weekend at Byron Bay with my parents. Harvest is this
cute café + deli + bakery located in a quaint little town called
Newrybar in the north of New South Wales.
The
breakfast was scrumptious.
During
our recent visit, we had the following dishes:
- Sizzle Steak: chargrilled dry aged sirloin with two fried eggs, salsa verde, Harvest sourdough ($24.00)
- Harvest Continental Selection: Wood fired sourdough and pastry, house made jam, boiled egg, local ham, Deli cheese and a fruit & yoghurt salad($20.50)
- Israeli eggs in a chilli, garlic, red pepper and middle eastern tomato sauce, with labna, cucumber relish and fresh Harvest sourdough ($24.50)
- Eggs Florentine on Harvest wood fired sourdough with avocado ($21.50)
I
liked their breakfast menu, although there are not a lot of
options, there really is something for everyone. It was
unanimously agreed that the Israeli eggs were the winner of the
dishes that we had. The dish’s unique exoticness stood
out from the crowd and I couldn’t get enough of the sauce. Well,
that was until two rather playful flies landed on my plate and
couldn’t escape. I sadly watched my plate getting taken away from
the table. Mum kindly offered me with the pastry from her Continental
Selection and I must admit that the joint does awesome pastries too.
Made
with fresh ingredients, sourced from the local region and their own
organic farm, the food tasted delicious, which sort of justifies why
the dishes are slightly on the pricey side. A negative would
have to be the swarm of flies that seem to call the balcony of the
café home.
Total
Bunnie Dollars Spent: $112.90
