Bucci | 11/15 James Street, FORTITUDE VALLEY QLD 4006
Last
Friday, the other travel bunnie and I met up with another couple for
our fortnightly dinner gathering. In true Italian spirit, we
decided for the soirée to be held at Bucci.
Located
in the trendy and always busy James Street precinct, Bucci is
definitely considered as one of the best Italian restaurants in
Brisbane and despite it being opened for some time now, I had only
had the opportunity to taste their desserts previously. Needless to
say that I was extremely excited to get some homely Italian food into
me.
We
started the night by sharing a few nibbles, including the crumbed
giant green olives filled with pork sausage, fennel seeds, rosemary &
chilli, salsa rosa ($10.50 for
six), two serves of the garlic rubbed ciabatta ($12.50
each), some bite size pea & mozzarella risotto balls
($14) and half a dozen Hervey Bay scallops grilled with garlic &
parsley ($22). Although I’ve never been a big fan of olives, I
really enjoyed those green olives as they tasted so delicious with
the well-seasoned pork sausage. The scallops and mozzarella risotto
balls tasted great too.
As
we caught up with one another about the news in our lives, our mains
arrived.
We
had two serves of the Lamb, a chilli and garlic pasta the gnocchi
(sorry about the light on descriptions but the other couple paid so I
don’t have a lot to go off for the meals). The Lamb was
fantastically presented on two separate plates with the meat being
perfectly cooked and pink in the centre. Both pasta dishes were
nicely sauced and the taste of the fresh pasta simply cannot be
beaten.
We
then moved on to the dolce with everyone tying each other's dishes.
There were Zabaglione’s, cannoli and cute Italian donuts flying
everywhere (all at $15). Rich chocolate, silky smooth
Zabaglione, fluffy puffs of dough and creamy ricotta where swirling a
round my mouth and by the end of the meal I was not only satisfied
that I had finished some of the best Italian off but that I was in
desperate need of a lay down at home.
