Miami | FLORIDA USA
So
as we awoke on the last day of our Caribbean cruise we looked out the
window of our cabin and saw the sun rising over Miami. We knew then
and there that after a short (but necessary) final breakfast aboard
the boat we would soon be spending the next 24 hours exploring this
very cool beachside city.
We
checked into our hotel at Sense Beach House early in morning and
immediately left our bags there and proceeded to do a lap of Ocean
Drive. It was early enough in the day for the countless restaurants
that line the strip to still be setting up for the day's trade but
that just meant that all of the fitness minded locals were out out in
force. Our time in Miami (or more to the point South Beach) saw us
go up and down that same road three more times (once at lunch and
twice more at dinner and later in the night) and the number of people
that cram into it seem to swell as the day slipped away.
We
found that the shops around SoBe to be pretty cool with all the major
chains being located there but with most of their stock slanted
towards are more beach theme. We also tried to dip our toes in the
famous waters but found ocean to be a little cold and decided that
people watching on the soft sand was a safer option.
I
think that on our next trip here we would definitely get out to
Little Havana, but Espanola Way which is only a few streets back of
Ocean Drive was a simple alternative on this trip.
Sun,
sand, partying and a great mix of culture – Miami is a great winter
escape!
