Tartine Bakery | San Francisco, CALIFORNIA USA
After
seeing the hippie subculture at Haight-Ashbury, the other travel
bunnie and I were craving something homely to nom on. We hailed a cab
and ended up at Tartine Bakery in the Mission District.
We
got there at a good time, apparently this humble looking corner
bakery is usually busy with foodies queueing outside to place their
lunch time orders.
Known
as the favourite bakery of Mark Bittman in the U.S., what's not to
like about Tartine? We ordered a savoury sandwich with all the
trimmings, a lush pastry and an extra large bowl of piping hot
chocolate. This is a great place to stop in if you are in the area
and locking for a guaranteed heart (and tummy) warmer.
