Obsession Restaurant & Bar | Little Stanley Street, SOUTH BRISBANE QLD 4101
The
both of us have recently made friends with the flu virus, which
somehow led us to a sudden urge for Chinese food. The other travel
bunnie wanted a stir fried dish with loads of garlic, and I just
wanted to have Chinese food for comfort because mum was an hour drive
away.
As
neither of us felt like going anywhere too far away, we wandered over
to Obsession at South Bank.
I
was shocked at the prices when I opened the menu. It's always been at
the back of my mind that Chinese food is really affordable in
Brisbane. Sure the décor of the restaurant was slightly fancier than
your average Chinese take away joint around the corner, and there
were fresh water lilies on the tables and all...but almost charging
almost thirty dollars for Mongolian lamb? I told the other travel
bunnie there and then that the food better be good, otherwise I would
not be a happy camper.
Well
what do you know - the food turned out to be extremely tasty. We
ordered just the right amount of food. Between the two of us, we had
the Forbidden Palace Pork ($24)
– lightly fried bite-sized pork w' fruit and special sweet &
sour sauce, Peking Style Black Pepper Chicken ($26)
– wok style chicken w' black pepper and lemongrass, served with
crisped green leaves and fresh lime and seasonal greens
($18). The flavours of the
dishes were impeccable and I strongly recommend the Peking Style
Black Pepper Chicken.
We
rarely finish our meals with completely empty plates, but that night,
we left with three empty plates on the table and two very content
stomaches.
Total
Bunnie Dollars Spent: $71.50
