Grappino Trattoria Italian Restaurant, 226 Given Terrace, PADDINGTON QLD 4064
Last
Thursday marked the 42nd wedding anniversary of the other
travel bunnie's parents. As a celebration, we all went out to
Grappino. I mean, what's more festive than devouring great food?
Grappino
is a little Italian restaurant located in foodie precinct of
Paddington and does a good job at being unique and differentiating
itself from neighbouring restaurants which include the ever so
popular Montrachet. The internal walls of the restaurant are lined
with movie stars from italian mafia classics of a past era while the
colour scheme of lime green and soft pastels confirm the bistro feel
of a retro inspired family eatery.
The
menu is not excessive but the black boards on either of the main
walls offer daily specials. We share two Antipasti,
Chef Alfredo's daily creation
including prime seasonal shellfish mediterraneo and Italian larder
delicatessen and House Trattoria Ciabatta Bread to
start with which got everyone into the italian mood. Mains included
the Scallopine Funghi, Pork rack, and two pasta dishes
Fettuccine Alla Fungi seasonal mushrooms cooked with white
wine and cream topped with parmigiano and truffle oil and Gnocchi
traditional bolognese style. All of the pasta dishes were
cooked al dente and the sauces were not so strong as to overpower the
individual flavours of the dishes. The Veal was tender and perfectly
thin while the pork dish was very generous in in its portion but
still juicy and well seasoned throughout.
No
celebration would be complete without desserts. The Bunnies shared a
creamy yet firm tiramisu which was divine and there was also a
Crespelle Di Arancia, thin crepes flamed with mandarin liqueur
served with vanilla bean ice cream with valencia orange slices,
cooked in its own juice, which was a little taut but still tasty.
Grappino
is a great place for a midweek Italian meal and the bunnies
absolutely loved it.
Total
Bunnie Dollars Spent: $290 (or there abouts).
