Xanthi Restaurant & Bar, 100 Market St Level 6 Westfield, SYDNEY NSW 2000

Xanthi is perhaps one of the currently most talked about restaurants in Sydney, both the current issues of the Gourmet Traveller and Feast Magazine have mentioned this contemporary Greek restaurant. I took mum there for dinner during our recent visit to Sydney and I absolutely loved my dining experience there.

The décor of the restaurant is not your typical Greek eatery with painted walls of white washed houses or pictures of the Caldera’s beautiful blue water. From the luxurious cream coloured draped silk ceiling, to colourful glass candle holders and Turkish rugs, each adds a touch of romance to the décor. However what was even more appealing was the restaurant’s Ouzo trolley, which offers twenty different ouzos as well as raki and tsipouro (other traditional Greek spritis).

We enjoyed our meals while watching owner and head chef David Tsirekas work his magic in the kitchen. The lamb sovla was tender and tasty, but I thought it was slightly overpriced at $38.00 for what you get. The highlight was their pork belly baklava ($21.00), although it took a little longer to come out because it was made to order. It was however definitely worth the wait!

Total Bunnie Dollars Spent: $76.50.
